Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic (Coordinator)

Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic (CTM) is a non-profit private technological centre. CTM aims to efficiently contribute to improving the competitiveness and the technological development of companies by providing specialised services and carrying out R&D and Innovation projects. Its activities cover sectors such as Environmental Technology, Materials Technology and Energy. CTMs Environmental Technology Department (ATA) aims at contributing to sustainable industrial and community development through the enhancement of environmental quality.

Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz

The School of Life Sciences (HLS) of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) consists of 4 institutes: Pharma Technology, Medical and Analytical Technologies, Chemistry and Bioanalytics and Ecopreneurship (IEC). The research and development activities of HLS encompasses a wide range of projects ranging from the development of new products and devices as well as the optimisation of production processes (material and energy saving up) to life cycle and risk assessment of some of these products. Approximately 60 scientists work at IEC.

Cranfield University

Cranfield University is an exclusively post-graduate, international centre of excellence in research and teaching in strategic areas of science, technology and management. Cranfield combines the academic rigour and long term perspective of a university with the commercial and business focus of industry. It is a world leader in defence and natural resource management, including the management of water quality. Its research income, measured as a percentage of its turnover, puts the institution one of the top five research intensive universities in the UK alongside Oxford, Cambridge and London’s Imperial College.

Istituto di Ricerca sulle Acque-Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche

The Water Research Institute (IRSA-CNR) is part of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). The Institute has three departments located in Monterotondo (Rome), Bari (southern Italy) and Brugherio (close to Milan, northern Italy). In the last 40 years IRSA-CNR has performed basic and applied research activities on process technologies, including the development of new processes and methodologies, pilot and full-scale plant design, cost evaluation and dissemination of results.

Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA) is a public research institution, part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Action of the regional Government of Catalonia, Spain. IRTA's mission is to contribute to modernising, improving, boosting competitiveness, and fostering sustainable development in the sectors of agriculture, animal and plant production, food technology, agroforestry, aquaculture, fisheries, agro-food economy and environment and global change, with the aim of consolidating a sustainable bio-based economy.

KWR Water B.V.

KWR Water B.V. (KWR) is the Dutch research institute for the drinking water sector, their current shareholders are the companies of the sector. Unique in the world, this collaboration of the Dutch water supply companies has resulted in a powerful knowledge base and an extensive collective memory, with more than 60 years, for the drinking water sector. The institute develops and unlocks relevant knowledge about the small water cycle: from water systems to water technology and (clean) water quality. Its objective is to provide the water sector with the means to identify and effectively meet the current challenges: from climate change to the increasing amount of contaminants, and the growing pressure to use space intensively and for multiple purposes.

Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin Gemeinnuetzige GMBH (KWB)

The Berlin Centre of Competence for Water, Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin gGmbH (KWB), is an international, non-profit, public private research center on urban water systems. The shareholders are the world leading company for water supply and sanitation Veolia Water, the largest German water utility Berlinwasser, and the Senate of Berlin. The main mission consists of the planning and the execution of R&D projects, the dissemination of project results and the organization of conventions and symposia. Since its creation in 2001, with a staff of about 30 full-time persons, KWB has initiated and conducted several studies related to leading edge technologies for wastewater treatment and water reuse, resulting in more than 200 publications (journals and conferences).

Centro de Alianzas para el Desarrollo

The Centre for Partnerships for Development (CAD) promotes cross sector partnerships through global networks of knowledge with the aim of fostering synergies which will allow for sustainable responses to the challenges of human development. Its international network of experts designs methodologies to advise international organisations, governments and private companies as well as civil society organizations, promoting partnerships as interaction systems that guarantee a maximisation of resources and allow for the achievement of results within development objectives.

ACTeon SARL

ACTeon is a research and consultancy company specialized in the development, implementation and evaluation of European environmental policy. Its main skills lie with the "soft" elements of policy development, i.e. economic analyses, social assessments, integrated approaches, institutional assessments, participatory processes and mediation. Thanks to its dual expertise in research and policy advice, ACTeon is active in initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between science and policy. Key expertises of ACTeon of direct relevance to DEMOWARE include the valuation of direct and indirect costs and benefits of a policy or a project, including monetization of environmental externalities.

AMPHOS 21 Consulting S.L. (A21) is a SME that provides scientific and technical consultancy services addressing a range of environmental issues, mainly associated to the management and disposal of hazardous wastes, contaminated groundwater and soils, water management, environmental planning and specific software development as well as strategic communication and social studies. The main output is the expert advice in innovative solutions to sustainable resources management and, as a result, A21 is pioneer in the introduction of novel solutions to the market. A21 counts on a team of highly qualified professional specialized in scientific and technical disciplines related to geosciences, water studies, climate change and CO2 as well as risk communication..

Fiordelisi srl (Fiordelisi) is an Italian company leader in production of sun dried and semi dried vegetables. The core business is tomato, being a manufacturer of ready “antipasti” and Italian side dishes. Fiordelisi is present in the international markets since fifteen years with the aim to develop innovative concepts about agricultural and food dimension, through studies and collaboration with some Italian Research Centers. The company is located in Puglia, in the South of Italy, a perfect place for vegetables growing and its leadership comes from the experience accrued in fresh vegetables growing and vegetable processing.

BIOMONITECH Ltd (BIOMONITECH) was recently established by Moti Suess and Dr Nirit Ulitzur, based on vast (20 years, academic and industrial) experience in applying luminescent bacteria for manual and automatic monitoring chemical contamination in drinking water and treated effluent sources. BIOMONITECH’s mission and vision is to take the technology a step further, and provide a comprehensive network-based early warning complex,that would enable continuous monitoring of multiple spots along varied water sources together with sophisticated data analysis and trend reports.

Companyia d’Aigües de Sabadell SA

Companyia d’Aigües de Sabadell, S.A. (CASSA), with over 50 years of extensive experience, firmly consolidated in the field of the water supply, energy and environment services. Companyia d’Aigües de Sabadell,S.A is part of the CASSA Group which currently supplies water to over 40 municipalities (with an area of distribution of over 700 km2). CASSA also manages several wastewater treatment plants, including two of the ten largest in Catalonia, and seawater desalination plants. CASSA provides services to around 800,000  inhabitants. Sabadell WWTP works with a MBR process (one of the biggest in Europe) which obtains a tertiary quality water to use for irrigation, cleaning streets and other applications.

ROTEC Ltd. (ROTEC) is an Israeli start-up company operating in the field of desalination and general water treatment. The company has developed an innovating desalination technology (Flow Reversal) designed to be implemented in existing and new desalination facilities for Brackish Water and other industrial applications, allowing significant improvement in system performances out coming in higher profitability, reduction of operation costs and overcoming many environmental obstacles associated with desalination.

Blue Biolabs GMBH

The Blue Biolabs GmbH (Blue Biolabs) is a young start-up that was founded 2012 at the Technical University in Berlin, Germany. The Blue Biolabs has a staff of three employees. It has a strong background in molecular analysis of wells and drinking water distribution systems. The firm’s core business is the detection of iron bacteria and hygienic relevant bacteria in drinking water systems. This is the reason why the company uses modern molecular methods as well as classical microbiological techniques.

ASIO, spol. s r.o. (ASIO) was established in 1993 as a Czech engineering supplies company with international operations. The company is involved in the development, production, and delivery of technologies for wastewater treatment, water treatment and air treatment. The wide range of water management products that it offers are employed in the treatment of wastewater from family houses, villages, towns, hospitals, and in various branches of industry. ASIO is a Czech company represented in 32 countries, through a wide network of subsidiaries and representatives. Besides its quality production base, it has built a network of sales and service centres not only in the Czech Republic, but also in a number of European countries.

MEKOROT WATER COMPANY ISRAEL

Mekorot, Israel’s National Water Company is a public utility founded in 1937. One of the world’s most advanced water companies, a leader in water resources management, desalination, wastewater treatment and effluent reuse, rain enhancement, water quality, water security and water engineering services. Mekorot supplies 70% of the water in Israel (about 1.4 billion cubic meter /year). The company treats 40% of Israel's wastewater and supplies the treated wastewater for agriculture consumption. Through continual research, experimentation and field innovation, Mekorot provides a steady flow of high quality water 24/7 for all the uses in all the country, with a rapidly growing population, despite the region’s limited freshwater resources and arid climate.

Thames Water Utilites Limited

Thames Water Utilities Limited (TWUL) is the UK's largest water and sewerage company supplying 9 million people and providing wastewater services to 14 million. TWUL is supplying 2,600 megalitres of drinking water every day from its 100 water treatment works and its 350 sewage works treat in average of more than 4bn litres per day. The research will be performed by the Resources and Sustainable Technologies team, which is part of the TWUL Innovation department.

Veolia EnvironneMent Recherche et Innovation SNC

Veolia Environnement Recherche & Innovation (VERI), created in 2007, carries out the company’s research in its fields of activity (water, waste management, energy). The 800 people (400 researchers, 400 field developers) located in 4 main research centres around Paris build and run experiments thanks to 100 pilot testing facilities. Water reuse and desalination are major research themes of the VERI water programmes, for the development of alternative water resources for all uses: drinking water, industrial water, aquifer recharge, irrigation.

Veolia Water Systems Ibérica S.L.U. (VWSI), subsidiary of Veolia Water, is a technological company which provides a complete range of services required to design, build, operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment facilities and systems for public authorities and industrial clients. Many important references back up the company’s expertise in water reclamation such as El Prat WRP, Camp de Tarragona WRP, Rejas WRP, Algorós WRP, etc.

Joint Research Centre

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is a Directorate-General of the European Commission under the responsibility of Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science. The mission of the JRC is to provide customer-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union.

ARTI Regione Puglia

Regione Puglia (Puglia Region) is the Italian public territorial authority with legislative powers and responsible for the legislative and administrative policies on an area of almost 20,000 square kilometers and a population of over 4 million people. Strategic policies of key importance include the protection of natural resources, the promotion of alternative sources of energy, innovation, development and environmental compatibility.

Intercommunale Waterleidingsmaatschappij van Veurne-Ambacht

The Intermunicipal Water Company from the Veurne Region (IWVA) historically produces its drinking-water from a fresh-water lens under the dunes. Nowadays the IWVA serves drinking-water to about 62,000 people living permanently in the distribution area, but during the summer it serves up to 250,000 people. This is the reason of the big difference between the minimal and maximum daily consumption. Since 2002 IWVA combined water re-use using ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis (Torreele facility) via managedaquifer recharge at St-André to achieve a sustainable groundwater management of the dunes.

Vendée Eau

Vendée Eau is a non profit public body in charge since 1961 of water supply in the French “Département” of Vendée (277 “communes” located on the French western coast). One of the main responsibilities of Vendée Eau is to lead the necessary investments to provide potable water to the next generations. This part of France is suffering a recurrent and increasing water stress and Vendée Eau is exploring different opportunities including desalination, use of queries and indirect reuse for drinking water production.

Hidroquimia is an environmental engineering company which is specialized in industrial wastewater treatments. The company has wide experience in the design, construction and operation of hard treat wastewater facilities, and has a deep knowledge in electrochemical and biological and membrane technologies. Hidroquimia also develop technical solutions in industrial water process treatment, applying advanced oxidation techniques of disinfection, sanitization and chemical physical conditioning.
